Concerts. Concerts? Concerts!

Kay isn’t me… live Shot 10/10/19, by me

Concerts are like men. You don’t need them to live, but they sure can make you feel better, sometimes of course.

For me personally, concert is a magical place. You gathered with thousands of people at the same time. All of you may not know each other. But you know, that all of you share at least the same interest: appreciation for a certain artist. Being yourself while surrounded by people like you is the most magical thing ever.

Here are some of my favorite concerts, and some of them are available online right now if you want to take a look.

Dangerous Woman World Tour – Ariana Grande

When Ariana brought this concert to Hong Kong in September, 2017, one month after I came to Hong Kong for university, of course I had to go. I was lucky enough to purchase the meet & greet ticket to see her in person. The show, was all kinds of impowering. The feminist interlude was so powerful and her performance of Somewhere over the rainbow was soul touching. She documented the tour on YouTube, and we had to stan.

Reputation Stadium Tour – Taylor Swift

Taylor is one of my all-time favorite artist. And her highest grossed tour after the album reputation was somewhat historic. I was also lucky enough to fly to Tokyo and join her in the closing chapter of this journey. From the way she designed the stage, to the very detail of paper confetti filled with her name, she knew she was deemed to mark the industry, and so did we. This hypnotizing tour is now on Netflix and for you to enjoy.

Pretty Crazy Concert – Joey Yung

Last year was Joey’s 20th year in music industry and her “pretty crazy” themed concert was perfectly describing her career. 3 hours of hit songs and dance medleys, she showed us what is professionalism. When the stage wasn’t working on the first day, she gave all of the audience a second show for FREE. I was lucky enough to witness this moment, and I never did regret once how I love and admire her.

Music is my way out of this manic and sometimes tragic world. Concerts are very personal and subjective, so if you have any suggestions please let me know. Let’s all stay safe and have a bedroom concert, shall we?
